The Sri Lankan military issued a special statement on the evening of the 23rd local time, saying that a naval sailor who was on vacation suddenly fell ill and was admitted to the hospital, and his new coronavirus test confirmed his diagnosis of new coronary pneumonia.
As a result, the barracks at the Welisara naval base where the sailor was located were blocked, and all the people in the barracks were also isolated.
Subsequently, all the sailors in the barracks and those who had contact with him were tested, and 29 sailors were diagnosed.
The military emphasized that all people at the naval base will be isolated and tested.
In addition, sailors on vacation were ordered to return to the base immediately after the completion of the home isolation period for testing.
