From May 11, the date of the start of the deconfinement, transport users must wear masks and respect physical distance from other travelers.

At the end of a meeting between the executive and the representatives of the mayors, Thursday in the middle of the day, the Élysée fixed several frameworks on the way in which the deconfinement will take place, from May 11. In transport, the wearing of a mask will thus be imposed, as will respect for distancing from other users.

Mayors encouraged to buy masks

In public transport, "it will probably be necessary to impose the wearing of a mask," said the Élysée, which mentioned a "organizational and health specifications for the recovery".

On the subject of masks, "there will always be a prioritization of FFP2 and surgical masks for caregivers" and the executive remains "in the register of the recommendation at this stage" for its generalization to the general public "because we must above all respect barrier gestures ". Emmanuel Macron thus encouraged the mayors to massively buy masks for the general public, "in a logic of recommendation, no obligation".
