Stopped since March 16 because of the coronavirus, the restoration site of Notre-Dame de Paris will gradually resume from Monday, April 27. But in addition to the difficulty of the work, the craftsmen and companions will have to deal with sanitary measures against the Covid-19.

"That's excellent news." If 80% of construction sites are still stopped in France, this will no longer be the case for that of Notre-Dame de Paris. Stopped due to the coronavirus on March 16, work will gradually resume from Monday, April 27, in stages. The public establishment in charge of restoration still has its sights set on the objective formulated by Emmanuel Macron to rebuild the cathedral by 2024.

A gradual return to activity on the site ...

For the first stage, essentially consisting in putting back the life base of the site, only about twenty craftsmen and companions will be on site. Then, the numbers will increase in power throughout the month of May to resume work to secure the monument, interrupted with confinement. But coronavirus obliges, the decision to relaunch the activity on the site "was taken after thorough instruction of the conditions of recovery" with in particular the project management, the companies concerned and on the basis of the "health security recommendations" developed by the government, indicates the public establishment in charge of the restoration. And to specify that the companions working on the site will have masks, access to distributors of hydroalcoholic gel, and will benefit from "accommodation solutions" and meal delivery.
