Opposition Agbéyomé Kodjo arrested in Togo: bishops call for his release

Gabriel Agbéyomé Kodjo spent the night at the Central Intelligence and Criminal Investigation Service (SCRIC) and is waiting to be presented to the prosecutor. First reaction since his arrest, the bishops of Togo call on the authorities to release him.

Gabriel Agbéyomé Kodjo is waiting to be brought before the public prosecutor. At the end of this removal, the prosecutor can then open a judicial inquiry with or without a deposit warrant.

During his arrest Tuesday , Gabriel Agbéyomé Kodjo was taken on board with about fifty people who were with him in the house, including family members, collaborators and members of the dynamic Kpodzro. About twenty of them recovered their freedom, Tuesday evening. SCRIC is currently conducting further checks on others to identify the perpetrators, co-perpetrators or accomplices of wrongdoing.

The Bishops' Conference of Togo, in a press release released Tuesday night to Wednesday, condemns "  the brutality shown by the authorities in a situation which is above all political. Every citizen has the right and the duty to show his disapproval before injustice and oppression,  "write the bishops who invite the judicial authorities to release Gabriel Agbéyomé Kodjo.
