Four employees at the elderly home had covid-19

It is the Gothenburg Post that writes about the tests on the elderly, which was carried out on April 6. The doctor at the accommodation wanted to see if the staff was infected, in order to avoid the large spread of infection that has taken place in elderly care in Stockholm.

Everyone who was tested would work the same day. Of the 57 tested, 23 had some of the symptoms of tingling, sore throat, cough or fever. Four people had covid-19 and two of them were completely symptom-free.

- It is not a very high frequency, that six percent had an infection. But it is a warning signal that you need to observe protective measures and educate the staff, says Magnus Lindh, professor of clinical microbiology at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, who helped analyze the tests, to GP.

Trade union representatives are not surprised that elderly care workers work, despite having symptoms.

- We have been alarmed about this for several years. We have problems with sickness absence instead of sickness absence, says the local local chair Anna Skarsjö, to GP.
