In Cameroon, Paul Biya makes a donation of nearly two billion CFA francs in sanitary equipment in the fight against the coronavirus. The announcement was made yesterday by the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji. The objective is to strengthen measures aimed at containing the spread of Covid-19 among populations.

This donation mainly consists of medical equipment. It is made up of 50,000 cartons of soap and detergent, 1.5 million protective masks for populations, 50,000 surgical masks for hospital staff, 40,000 hand-washing cans, rapid screening kits or devices respiratory systems for hospitals.

Distribution in the coming days

All this stock of products is already available in Cameroon and will be distributed in the coming days in the 360 ​​districts of the country, ensures the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji. The will expressed here ," he adds, " is to decentralize the strategy to combat the spread of the coronavirus. Thus, it will no longer be necessary to transport the sick to the major hospitals in Yaoundé and Douala, which are starting to saturate  . ”

1,000 cases

With more than 1,000 cases of contamination identified to date, Cameroon is one of the sub-Saharan countries hardest hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.
