How does the epidemic affect college students' employment choices? Last week, a survey conducted by the China Youth Daily's Ministry of Economic Affairs and Social Survey Center on the recent graduates (2002 participants) showed that 60.1% of the respondents would choose a more stable job, and 25.4% of the respondents Respondents chose more challenging jobs. 10.2% of the respondents said that there was no change, and 4.2% of the respondents did not consider this issue.

Among the interviewees, 25.2% came from the key one, 47.6% came from the ordinary one, the proportions of the second and third books were 20.4% and 4.39%, and 2.2% came from higher vocational colleges.

The epidemic has a big impact on employment choices

Li Yu experienced such a long winter vacation for the first time. In the past few months, she felt very anxious at her home in Shaoxing, Zhejiang: looking for a job while catching up on her master's thesis.

As a graduate student majoring in journalism, her ideal career is ranked as follows: Zhejiang branch of media agency, Beijing headquarters of media agency, and civil servant of Zhejiang province. After the outbreak, the options that were ranked last were given weight. In the eyes of many people, civil servants are synonymous with stability and are also the favorite choice of elders. Li Yu's parents always blow in her ears, but Li Yu believes that this occupation is "not interesting enough", and may just be writing official documents, publicity drafts and the like. But not long ago, she was shaken.

Some of the classmates took part in the written examination of the recruitment unit years ago, and later received a notice that the recruitment was cancelled due to the epidemic situation; some companies reduced the number of recruitment to half of last year; Only autumn tricks are left. This year, the scale of graduates reached a record high. The scale of graduates in 2020 colleges and universities is expected to reach 8.74 million, an increase of 400,000 year-on-year.

The survey shows that 91.5% of the respondents believe that the epidemic has an impact on their employment choices, of which 59.5% of the respondents believe that the impact is large, and 32.0% of the respondents believe that the impact is small. Only 7.9% of the respondents said there was no impact. What type of unit do current students prefer? Ranked first is state-owned enterprises (28.9%), followed by public institutions (28.3%), party and government organs (13.9%) ranked third. The next ranking is: foreign companies (13.3%), private enterprises (11.2%), self-employment (3.9%), etc.

The job search ranking also confirmed the intention of this year's college graduates to "employment for stability". On March 20, the official website of the General Office of the State Council issued the “Implementation Opinions of the General Office of the State Council on Measures to Strengthen and Stabilize Employment in Response to the Impact of the New Coronary Pneumonia Outbreak” (hereinafter referred to as the “Opinions”), and proposed five major measures for the employment of college graduates. The first is to expand the scale of recruitment of college graduates by small, medium and micro enterprises and state-owned enterprises. The "Opinions" pointed out that state-owned enterprises have continuously expanded the recruitment scale of college graduates this year and next, and they must not arbitrarily break contracts, and must not take the internship period of their units as a necessary condition for recruitment.

Civil service positions in various places are further opened to college graduates. It is understood that Hubei has made clear that the 2020 civil servant recruitment plan will increase by 20%, and the elective recruitment recruitment plan will increase by 50%; Shanxi has stepped up its efforts to help enterprises stabilize their positions. This year, it plans to recruit 627 civil servants and 1,400 business personnel, an increase of 131% year-on-year ; The Hainan party and government organs ’job demand table has released a pre-enrollment of 1,566 people, an expansion of 260%; Shandong civil servant provinces, cities, counties, and townships have also increased the number of“ four-level entrance exams ”compared to last year. The plan is to increase by more than 140%.

Salary is not the primary factor in the job search of recent college graduates interviewed

Talking about the primary considerations for choosing a job, Zhou Siyu, a senior student at Nanchang University, admitted that salary and personal growth space are her two most important points. Her ideal career is to get positive feedback through hard work, to progress, and to intuitively experience To the sense of accomplishment brought by work.

But young people are still eager to "glow." Zhou Siyu said, "A job can be tiring, but you can't help but feel relieved." She doesn't want to be a "tool person" every day. "If you have no room for innovation and creativity, it will be very painful."

The survey shows that when asked about the most important factors for college graduates to apply for a job, 75.7% of the respondents preferred "personal development space", followed by "salary treatment" (66.6%), and 58.7% of respondents chose "enterprise" "Development prospects", 29.0% of respondents value "geographic location".

For some time, college students are favored by flexible employment with greater freedom. According to a survey by the School of Education of Peking University, the proportion of flexible employment for recent college students is not low. In 2003, the proportions of freelance, self-employment and flexible employment combined accounted for only 4%, and by 2017 these three indicators added up to nearly 19%.

But this year, Zhou Siyu remained cautious about entering startups and self-employment. In her view, startups are more suitable for internships or after gaining some work experience to try again. All things considered, the product operation of the Internet company is her anchored target position. Before that, she has accumulated internship experience in several head Internet companies, but she clearly realizes that to gain a competitive advantage, she must improve her hard power. , She also needs to learn phython and data analysis skills, while understanding the industry and market in a targeted manner.

The executive meeting of the State Council held not long ago said that it is necessary to increase support for "Internet +" and platform economy, develop new formats of the digital economy, and create new positions and new occupations. Rely on the industrial Internet to promote the traditional industry to speed up the online cloud. Focus on areas with great employment potential such as pension, childcare, and housekeeping, and develop a life service industry that integrates online and offline. Support the development of shared employment and employment security platforms, and provide online employment and social security services for flexible employees.

How to solve the difficulties and blockages of college students' employment

Zeng Xiangquan, director of the China Employment Research Institute of Renmin University of China, believes that in addition to the impact of external emergencies such as the New Coronary Pneumonia epidemic, China's job market is already facing many economic downturns, an aging population, new technological revolutions, and structural contradictions. Factor challenges.

For the current college students, lack of work ability is a prominent structural contradiction of this group. Last year, a consultancy firm, Mike Max, conducted a survey and found that during the seven years from 2011 to 2018, the basic work ability satisfaction (the difference between the ability mastered at graduation and the ability required by the post) of the undergraduate fresh graduates from 82 % Increased to 84% with little change.

The "China Employment Market Boom Report" recently released by the China Employment Research Institute and Zhilian Recruitment also shows that 45% of the graduates who have obtained offers this year, 56.0% have relevant internship experience. These people have clear job search goals and rich social practices.

Zeng Xiangquan analyzed that students who have not been notified of employment may be due to inaccurate positioning, failure to meet recruitment requirements, and too few resumes delivered. He suggested that for groups with employment difficulties, professional vocational guidance should be provided to help students successfully transition from school to employment. Individuals also need to strengthen job search, reduce salary expectations, and establish a correct career outlook.

The blocking points of enterprises and platforms should also be broken through. Zeng Xiangquan said that to reduce the operating costs of enterprises, tax cuts and fee reductions should not only be used as a short-term emergency measure, but should be long-term. At the same time, "stable employment" should also be included in the evaluation of the investment link. Whether it is new infrastructure or old infrastructure, first of all, we must assess how much employment an investment project can bring.

In addition, he expressed the need to strengthen the full and timely flow of information on the platform to improve the efficiency of the job market. The information includes the enrollment scale and graduate size of each university, the number of colleges, colleges, majors, and the number of graduates of different majors. Promote high-quality employment.
