Facebook surprised users by announcing on Sunday that it would launch a mobile game application today, Monday, focusing mainly on broadcasting live games, in an attempt to compete with companies such as Amazon, Google and Microsoft in this field, according to a report by the American newspaper "The New York Times".

The report said that it was scheduled to launch the application "Facebook Gaming" (Facebook Gaming) in next June, but the company decided to expedite its launch to take advantage of the quarantine period due to the Corona virus.

"Investing in games in general has become a priority for us, because we see games as a form of entertainment that really connects people," the newspaper quoted head of gaming app, Fedi Simo, as saying.

Simo added, "Entertainment is not just a form of passive consumption, but an interactive work that brings people together."

According to the New York Times report, the new app also includes unofficial games and access to gaming communities.

The newspaper added that the application will be issued to the system "iOS" after the approval of Apple.
