Scania's lack of components forced Scania to close its factories in large parts of Europe and many employees had to go home in uncertainty. But now a small brightening is visible.

- We will make a soft start and start production at half speed for two days, says Karin Hallstan, Scania's press manager.

But it will not be everywhere.

- This week we will spend two days in Södertälje and next week there will be two days in Oskarshamn.

Decides every week

The planning does not extend beyond that.

- We make decisions on a weekly basis and have a plan for two weeks ahead.

During Tuesday and Wednesday next week, production at the cab factory will start again.

- It will not be at full strength. For two days, we will produce what we normally do during one day, says Karin Hallstan.

Employees in visor

That is not the only difference.

The distance between the workstations will be greater and some of the employees will wear visors instead of goggles. Another new routine is that the shifts no longer meet when the early shifts home and the next one begins.

Contact with subcontractors

The fact that Scania can now open up its production is due to the fact that subcontractors are also getting ready.

- They have flagged that they are ready to drive again but not to 100 percent. Many have longed for these signals. This is a couple of steps in the right direction.
