During the night towards Sunday, April 19, several cars were set on fire. The police are now investigating the events as arson fires and believe there is a link.
In a press release on Monday, police say there are "circumstances suggesting a link between the two fires. We also see links between these fires and some of the other car fires that have occurred in recent months ”.
- We believe that these events are related to the interventions we have made against certain criminal individuals in Umeå. It is therefore a kind of backlash against our active work against these people, says Michael Rystedt, local police area manager in Umeå.
The police want to get tips from the public about the events this weekend.
