Key figure in the Grégory case, Monique Villemin, the grandmother of the little boy and mother of Jean-Marie Villemin, died on Sunday in a nursing home in the Vosges, after being contaminated by coronavirus, confirmed Jean-Marie Villemin's lawyer 20 minutes away .

“Jean-Marie Villemin reacted with sadness. Notwithstanding the family dissensions, it is a son who loses his mother ", declared Thierry Moser, the lawyer of the parents of the small Grégory.

A central role

Monique Villemin played a central role in the affair of the assassination of her grandson. On October 16, 1984, little Grégory Villemin, 4 years old, was found dead, feet and fists tied in the waters of Vologne (Vosges), without the culprit being ever found.

Long before the boy's death, his grandparents, Monique and Albert Villemin, had been the target of anonymous calls and letters from a crow. The day after the discovery of the body, the parents of little Grégory had received a letter probably from this same "crow" which was never identified. "I hope that you will die of grief, the chief ...", indicated in particular this letter.

Monique Villemin, identified as one of the crows in the case

Very quickly, Bernard Laroche, a member of the family, appeared as the first suspect. Charged, he was imprisoned before being finally released in February 1985. One month after his release from prison, he was shot by Jean-Marie Villemin outside his home. Then it was Christine, the mother, who was suspected of having killed her own son before being whitewashed for "complete absence of charges" on February 3, 1993.

In June 2017, Monique Villemin was identified as one of the crows in the case. New expert reports had established that Grégory's grandmother was the author of a threatening letter sent to judge Simon in 1989. She suggested that the person responsible for the murder of her grandson Gregory was no other than Christine Villemin. "Are you going to spend 1990? This is our business! Announced the missive.

“She has always been silent. His death therefore does not change anything at the judicial level. If it is not that that perhaps offers the possibility to Albert her husband to speak. Does he want to? Can he afford it? Nobody knows, ”said Thierry Moser, Jean-Marie Villemin's lawyer.
