Cars parked in front of giant screens broadcasting the match that is being played in the adjacent stadium: this is the solution proposed by Midtjylland, a Danish 1st division club, to allow fans to support their team in the face of restrictions linked to the new coronavirus.

"First of all, we will be able to accommodate 2,000 cars with up to five supporters in each of them" in the stadium parking lot, Mads Hviid Jakobsen, spokesman for the Herning club, told AFP on Monday. (west), winner of the Danish league in 2018 and currently leading.

The announcement of this unprecedented drive-in sparked the enthusiasm of social networks.

"I am proud of my club," said a Facebook surfer, while another was delighted that "he would not have to freeze the next time" he attended a match.

The Danish first division has been suspended since mid-March and the introduction of strict restrictions to limit the epidemic of the new coronavirus.

The matches, behind closed doors, could resume during the second part of May.

"We expect the first game to be played between May 21 and May 31," said Hviid Jakobsen.

During this first experience, supporters will be able to benefit from audio comments broadcast via the radio of their car.

"If it is successful, we can go to 12,000 cars," said the Midtjylland spokesperson. Enough to satisfy up to 60,000 private stadium fans because of the new coronavirus.

The Herning stadium, the MCH Arena, can accommodate 11,800 spectators.
