Coronavirus: Bolsonaro takes part in a rally and denounces the confinement in Brazil

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro again took part in a rally on Sunday demanding the closure of Congress and a military intervention to end the confinement. The president criticized the containment measures decided by the governors of different states of the country in order to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

Supporters of the Head of State took part in various political rallies across Brazil, the Latin American country hardest hit by the epidemic, with 38,654 cases of infection confirmed on Sunday and 2,462 deaths caused by Covid- 19.

Jair Bolsonaro spoke - without mask - to Brasilia to a few hundred supporters, most of them dressed in the yellow and green jersey of the national football team. In his brief speech, the far-right president picked up on themes that have become commonplace . Calling  supporters of the rally "  patriots ", Bolsonaro said they were helping to defend individual freedoms which he said were threatened by restrictions imposed by governors.

The Brazilian president sacked his health minister on Thursday with whom he disagreed over the fight against the coronavirus. Bolsonaro said earlier this month that the Brazilian company would be unable to last several months in confinement.

He accused the governor of São Paulo last month of manipulating the local coronavirus balance up for political gain, fueling the feud with local officials.
