The forces of the Libyan National Accord government announced the shooting down of an Emirati drone that was bombing civilian targets around the Abu Qurain area (south of Misrata), and continued to clamp down on the forces of retired Major General Khalifa Hifter in the city of Tarhuna.

Al-Wefaq forces spokesman, Muhammad Qanunu, explained that the plane, which was shot down, was a Chinese-made "Wenq Lung" type, which was equipped with guided missiles, and that the UAE provided Haftar forces.

This comes at a time when the Al-Jazeera correspondent quoted a military source as saying that the Libyan Al-Wefaq government forces had taken control of the Al-Towisha axis (south of Tripoli), and that they had made progress with the Salah al-Din axes and the Hadaba project (south of the capital).

The source confirmed that Al-Wefaq forces tightened the noose on Haftar's forces in Tarhuna, after controlling areas in the city's administrative borders.

Al-Wefaq government forces announced their arrival in the Sharidat area in the vicinity of Tarhuna, and their control of areas on the outskirts of the city, and captured dozens of Haftar forces, as part of the attack that began on Saturday morning to control the city, which is the main stronghold of Haftar forces in western Libya.

A spokesman for the al-Wefaq forces announced the storming of the al-Hawatim camp, capturing more than forty Haftar forces, destroying mechanisms, and seizing quantities of weapons and ammunition. He also confirmed the bombing of his Emirati armored forces in the city of Tarhuna.

Haftar’s forces suffered heavy military defeats in recent days by the forces of the National Accord government, as part of the “Storm of Peace” operation, most notably the loss of the country's western coast cities to the Tunisian border, which represents a potential turning point in its attempt to repel a year-old attack on the capital, Tripoli .
