«We are perceiving that our image as a destination has been touched internationally because they still associate us with the Spanish market. And it is affected by the management that has been made of the health crisis. This is how forceful the director of the Catalan Tourism Agency (ACT) of the Generalitat , David Font , expressed himself today during the second digital debate organized by the Girona Tourism Board with the aim of evaluating the impact of Covid-19 on the tourism business fabric of the province.

A similar opinion was also expressed by the international expert in digital transformation and personal environments, Genís Roca , who in his speech has pointed out the possibility that the Costa Brava tourism sector creates a brand separate from the Spanish brand to prevent tourists associate the Girona coastline with Spain , "which is the brand that has been used to explain the region of the world with the highest mortality rate per million inhabitants."

In this sense and as a differentiating element, Font has announced that the ACT is studying the possibility that Catalan tourist establishments can certify that they have applied the relevant sanitary controls and that they are " Covid-19 free destinations ", with the aim of to offer a security image "linked to hygiene and health" that guarantees tourists that they are not at risk of contagion if they visit the Autonomous Community.
