The prefect of Police and the prefect of Essonne said in a statement that they had decided to open a new morgue to deal with the tension that persists on the "funeral chain". A measure decided in addition to that already carried out on the Rungis market since the beginning of April.

A new space for families victims of the coronavirus to gather. After a hall in the Rungis market transformed into a morgue at the beginning of April, the Prefect of Police and the Prefect of Essonne decided to "open a new reception center in Wissous, in Essonne", while the Island -de-France is now the region most affected by Covid-19.

A complementary measure to the morgue on the Rungis market

An opening intended to "preserve in the most worthy conditions the coffins of the deceased of the Covid-19, awaiting their burial or their cremation", one can read in an official press release. It is a complementary measure to that carried out in the "belly of Paris" to "deal with the tension that persists on the funeral chain". Set up this Friday, this new morgue will be operational from the start of the weekend. But the authorities specify that the families will not be able to come for a meditation, "it will be done under the usual conditions put in place by the funeral operators".
