SVT Nyheter has in several articles told about the adviser at Swedbank who is charged with serious fraud after withdrawing a total of SEK 35 million from his clients' accounts. "Erik" is one of the total 14 clients from whom the advisor took money.

- I had money in an interest-free account that I wanted to invest. He was my personal banker so I asked if he had any alternative and he had. You have confidence in someone you have met before with regard to banking matters, Erik says.

"Went several weeks without getting an answer"

The money that the counselor would invest came from, among other things, an inheritance when Erik was briefly affected by several deaths within the immediate family.

- I had so much hell to think about and forgot about that, considering everything else that happened. Once I realized that I had not received confirmation of the placement, I tried to call him but it went on for several weeks without getting an answer.

- Then Swedbank suddenly contacted me. At that meeting I learned what had happened.

How did you react?

- Of course, I was disappointed when it was discovered that he was suspected of crime and had embezzled this money. It came very unexpectedly. At that time it was a fucking mess in my privacy. It was a terrible time. I don't know if you can say he took advantage of me.

Got the money back

However, according to Swedbank's own investigation, it was no accident that Erik was hit.

“He met customers in all walks of life and who had money and focused on especially those who suddenly got money and may not always have the habit of having money. For example, people who have had deaths in the family, vulnerable situations, ”says one of the interrogations with the bank's security manager.

Erik himself is shocked when he hears how many people have been affected by the counselor. However, like the rest of the victims, he has recovered his money and a small amount of damages.

The counselor, in turn, risks several years in prison.
