It is the worst daily report in France since the beginning of the Covid-19 epidemic. Wednesday, April 15, the Director General of Health, Jérôme Salomon, announced that 1,438 additional deaths from the coronavirus had been recorded in France in the past 24 hours.

An alarming figure which can be explained in particular by the delay in entering and updating data during the Easter weekend. France had recorded its heaviest record in 24 hours on Tuesday with 762 new deaths.

The number of people treated in intensive care units in France, however, fell for the seventh consecutive day, said Jérôme Salomon. Some 6,467 people are currently in intensive care.
