Final stages in late June-early July or in August, just before the 2020-2021 season: the presidents of the Top 14 and Pro D2 clubs have kept two scenarios in an attempt to save the current season, the National League announced on Wednesday. rugby.

Paused since March 13 due to the coronavirus pandemic, the first two French divisions are making a cross on the last days and would go directly to the final stages, with two scenarios therefore.

"Scenario 1: the 2019-2020 championships would resume at the end of June-early July directly in the form of final phases with Top 14 and Pro D2 finals no later than July 18," said the League press release.

"Scenario 2: the final phases of the 2019-2020 championships would take place - according to the modalities determined according to the number of available dates - in August 2020, before the launch of the 2020-2021 season which would start immediately after, at the end of August- early September, "added the governing body.

Whatever the scenario that will be chosen in the end, it must be validated "at the end of April" by the steering committee and the general assembly of the LNR, in consultation with the FFR, the press release said.

"Our wish is to be able to play the final phases of the 2019-2020 season while preserving as an absolute priority the health of the various players in the competitions and the public, and by scrupulously respecting the health instructions of the public authorities", assures Paul Goze, the president of the NRL.
