The French Men's Basketball Championship (Elite) and the 2nd Division (ProB) will not resume until September, the National Basketball League (LNB) announced Wednesday evening in a press release, after a remote meeting of the Steering Committee.

With "the ban on rallies and sporting events for several more months" due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Elite and ProB will not resume until September, the LNB said.

"The working groups already at work and bringing together all the stakeholders in professional basketball must as of this day examine the hypotheses for the end of the 2019/20 season (final cessation and under what conditions, or resumption and end of September), "added the League.

These same working groups will also have to "reflect and propose the format of the competition for the 2020/21 season (one or more scenarios), with regard to the decisions taken on the 2019/20 season".

This work must be the subject of "a summary submitted to the approval of the steering committee before the end of April, and presented to the general assembly for approval", concluded the LNB.

The French Basketball Federation (FFBB) has definitively stopped all of its championships, including the Women's Basketball League, without the award of the title of champion and without sports relegation.
