22 researchers, professors and doctors on Dagens Nyheter's debate page demand that politicians take a tougher grip on the corona pandemic. It is written that the attitude of the Public Health Authority has failed.

"The elected people, those who have overall responsibility, must intervene, there is no other choice," one writes, referring to the latest statistics which indicate that Sweden has a mortality ten times the size of Finland.

“On April 7 to 9, the last three weekend holidays, every day in Sweden, 10.2 people per million inhabitants died in covid-19. In Italy, the figure was 9.7. In Denmark it was 2.9, in Norway 2.0 and in Finland 0.9 (according to data reported on the Worldometer on Sunday) ”, the researchers in DN write.

Reference is made to how Finland has acted versus how it has done in Sweden. That all cafes and restaurants are closed, that schools are closed and that crowds of more than ten people are prohibited.

"FHM not inclined to change"

The researchers judge the authorities' actions from several aspects.

“On at least four occasions, it has been claimed by the Public Health Authority that the spread of infection has leveled out or will decline. It has not. ”

The researchers write that the FHM advised all symptom-free homebuyers from the Italian Alps to live as usual and they still refuse to accept that the spread of symptoms from symptom-free has significantly contributed to mortality among the elderly. And now that Sweden's curves differ from those of neighboring countries, they are still "reluctant to change their recommendations".

Tegnell: The death toll isn't right

The Public Health Authority had to respond to the researchers' criticism at today's press conference and Anders Tegnell thinks the figures are not true, "there is a fundamental inaccuracy in that article."

He also points out that some countries, such as Italy, only record the deaths that occur in hospitals - making it difficult to compare the number of deaths between different countries.
