The United States recorded 1,509 deaths from coronavirus in 24 hours on Monday, almost the same figure as the day before, according to the Johns Hopkins University count. This daily report brings to 23,529 the total number of deaths recorded since the beginning of the pandemic in the United States, the country most bereaved by the Covid-19. The country now has more than 550,000 people infected with the virus, according to the United States Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC).

"The worst" of the past crisis?
On Monday, New York State, epicenter of the epidemic in the United States, crossed the 10,000 dead mark of Covid-19. Its governor Andrew Cuomo nevertheless considered that "the worst" of the crisis was "past", because the number of net hospitalizations (difference between admissions and discharges) is clearly slowing down. And according to CDC director Robert Redfield, the United States "is approaching the peak".
