The 11-year-old girl started developing symptoms on March 28, medical sources said. After a two-day self-medication, she was taken to a clinic for ambulatory care.
After a slight improvement, her situation worsened on April 5. Some round-trip clinic-home visits were traced by the Ebola response team. On Saturday April 11, she presented with breathing difficulties. His death was declared at 3 a.m. on Sunday, April 12.
On Friday, the death of a 26 year old man near Beni was reported after 52 days without new cases of Ebola, had indicated the Congolese authorities and the World Health Organization (WHO).
Common point noted between the two patients: they even attended the same hospital center, according to medical sources, which, according to some health workers, would prove the epidemiological link between the two cases.
The hospital's decontamination work has been completed.
The list of people who have been in contact with these cases is being drawn up and vaccination should start on Monday. Teams that had already withdrawn from this area are beginning to return.
