The attacks took place in several localities in Ituri. Codeco militiamen are said to have successfully blocked traffic on the road from Bunia to Mahagi. According to the governor of this province, these militiamen have adopted the guerrilla strategy. Jean Bamanisa explains that they operate in small groups in the hope of countering the operations carried out by the regular army.
On Saturday, a group of soldiers fell in a Codeco ambush in Nyapala village, sources said on the spot. These soldiers had been dispatched as reinforcements after a deadly attack carried out by militiamen against a convoy of vehicles in the territory of Djugu. After passing through this province, the President of the Republic decided to deploy the army and the police to restore order and security. Several armed groups had agreed to lay down their arms, with the exception of Codeco, whose management was beheaded at the end of March last .
This movement was quickly reorganized but its new leader, Ngabu Songambele under 30, is not unanimous among his, says some members of the armed group.
