A study conducted on Muslim women in Western countries revealed that the Corona virus led to the return of respect to veiled women in these countries.

The study was conducted by Anna Byala, a researcher at Northwestern University in Illinois, US, on 38 veiled women of either US or British nationality, and part of her findings was published on the US "The Conversion" website recently.

The study quoted a British woman named Afra (not his real name) as saying that there is a "noticeable difference" in the way in which the veiled women in the streets of Britain are dealt with after the Corona pandemic.

"They no longer look at me in a bad way because of my union or my hand gloves, everyone suddenly understands the situation," she added.

Jamila, a veiled woman living in France, also stressed that the current global situation made her protected from "obscene comments."

She pointed to the tendency of many international fashion houses to design elegant face masks, at the same time that suit the existing health conditions.

French law prohibits the wearing of the niqab in public, but after the Corona pandemic, it was forbidden for anyone to go to the streets without wearing masks, even if it was a cloth.

The researcher used pseudonyms to protect the identities of women in her research, according to the same source.

In this context, the study indicated that Muslim women who wear Islamic clothing (the niqab or veil) in non-Muslim majority countries are frequently attacked.

It also pointed out that in a 2017 American study conducted on 40 Muslim women, 85% of them were subjected to verbal violence, and 25% to physical violence.

As of Sunday afternoon, the number of Corona sufferers worldwide exceeded one million and 796 thousand, of whom more than 110 thousand died, while more than 412 thousand recovered, according to the "WorldMeter" website.
