(Fighting against New Coronary Pneumonia) Ministry of Ecology and Environment: The treatment and disposal of medical waste and medical sewage in China is stable and orderly

China News Service, Beijing, April 12 (Reporter Li Yanan) At the press conference of the Joint Defense and Joint Control Mechanism of the State Council of China on the 12th, Zhou Zhiqiang, deputy director of the Solid Waste and Chemicals Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, revealed that Since then, China has accumulatively disposed of 252,000 tons of medical waste, and the treatment and disposal of medical waste and medical sewage have been stable and orderly.

He said that doing a good job in the safe disposal of medical waste and medical sewage is an important part of comprehensively winning the fight against the new coronary pneumonia epidemic. At present, the treatment and disposal of medical waste and medical sewage in the country are stable and orderly, and no situation has been found that affects environmental safety due to the prevention and control of epidemic conditions.

Among them, in accordance with the principle of "receiving and receivable", medical waste basically realizes "daily production and daily cleaning". As of April 10, China's national medical waste disposal capacity was 6,074 tons / day, an increase of 23.9% compared to 4902.8 tons / day before the epidemic. On April 10, a total of 3701.8 tons of medical waste were collected nationwide, including 262.6 tons of medical waste involving epidemic diseases, accounting for 7.1%. On the same day, 3692.3 tons of medical waste were collected nationwide (another 9.5 tons were collected, and the disposal was included in the next day), with an average load rate of 60.8%. All medical waste related to the epidemic was promptly transshipped for disposal. Since January 20, 2020, a total of 252,000 tons of medical waste have been disposed of nationwide.

At the same time, with the continuous improvement of the epidemic prevention and control situation in Wuhan, the generation of medical waste in Wuhan has also dropped from the peak of 247 tons / day to 117 tons / day. The 2029 urban sewage treatment plants receiving medical sewage in the country are operating smoothly. All disinfection measures have been strictly implemented.

Zhou Zhiqiang said that at present, the international epidemic situation is spreading rapidly, and imported risks continue to increase. In the next step, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment will continue to pay close attention to the country, especially Hubei, Wuhan, and medical waste disposal and medical sewage treatment imported into high-risk areas outside the epidemic situation, so as to achieve full coverage of supervision services and full implementation of collection, treatment and disposal.
