Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who has suffered from Covid-19 pneumonia and has been hospitalized for a week, was released from hospital on Saturday April 12 after spending a few days in intensive care, 10 Downing Street announced.

He had been admitted a week ago to St. Thomas Hospital in central London. Boris Johnson spoke on Saturday for the first time since leaving intensive care, thanking British caregivers who said he "owes life".

"I can never thank them enough. I owe my life to them," he said, referring to the hospital staff, who are on the banks of the Thames, opposite Parliament.
