Strict rules to follow

Monday, the Society for the Protection of Animals, which closed its doors to the public because of the epidemic, had asked the government for a waiver so that people could come and adopt the residents of its 62 shelters, soon saturated. "In order to remedy this situation, on the proposal of the interministerial crisis unit, it has been decided that a tolerance will be granted concerning movements for the adoption of animals in shelters", announced in a press release the ministry of Interior.

"Strict rules" must however be respected, according to Beauvau: the animal must be chosen upstream on the SPA website, a specific meeting will be set and the SPA refuge concerned will issue a dematerialized certificate including the meeting time. By going to the meeting, the adoption candidate will have to travel alone and be provided, in addition to the certificate issued by the SPA, with a certificate of derogatory displacement for "compelling family reason".

"Save the lives of many animals"

"Fully committed to the cause of animal welfare, the Government heard the call of the SPA and we had at heart, immediately, to find a responsible solution," said Christophe Castaner. "It will allow compliance with health rules and save the lives of many animals," according to the Minister of the Interior.
