In the emission of "Little voices" on Europe 1, Friday morning, the little Yaël, six years old, told how she had managed to manage the daily life with two parents bedridden by the coronavirus for a dozen days.

TESTIMONY

The two parents of Yaël, a 6-year-old Parisian girl, were affected by the coronavirus and could not move from their beds during the illness. Her father even had to be hospitalized for a while. For twelve days, Yaël was therefore left to himself; she recounts this particular confinement in the program Les Petites Voices on Europe 1, Friday morning.

First observation, and not the least: when you are this age, "it's difficult to have sick parents! They slept all day, I had to fend for myself," says Yaël, who has since recovered his two parents in great shape.

"I got a little annoyed ..."

During the illness, all of the girl's habits were disrupted: "In the morning, I woke up on my own," she rewinds. "I ate and then watched a cartoon. Sometimes I played, I read books." No more homework or parents scolding, the dream daily for any child? Not really, according to Yaël: "I was all alone and I got a little annoyed ..."

Fortunately, the 6-year-old Parisian was not entirely alone in this situation: "My older sister, who is in Israel, called me and I stayed with her all day. She told me that we were going to color, that we were going to play mime, "neither yes nor no". It's always my big sister who loses! ", slips the girl with mischief.

Of course, there were more complicated moments than others during this period. Meals, for example: it was family friends who provided food for Yaël and his bedridden parents. "They rang the bell, they were told to put it in front of the door, I put on a glove and then I opened the door to collect the food," she said. What did not prevent her from having a slightly less strict diet than usual: "I ate chocolates, sweets and cakes when I wanted!"

Without the parents, "it was very long"

And then how can we simply carry out everyday gestures when we are only six years old? "I had to shower by myself. Since I don't know how to block the water when I bathe, I always did showers, even if I wanted to take a bath," recalls Yaël with a touch of disappointment in his voice. . And for good reason: his parents were bedridden. "I asked them for help and they told me they couldn't go up."

In total, Yaël had to wait "21 days" before being able to hug his parents again. "It was very long, I missed her a lot, I almost strangled her," she quips about her mother.

And what do the Little Voices of Europe 1 think, also confined around the world? "I think she is super brave because staying alone at home must have been super hard," said Olivia, 15, from Brussels. For Rosalie, 11, "she must have made huge progress, she had to shower on her own. It is not easy, even with my brother who is 6 years old. At her age, I would be very scared. "
