It has been debated for many years whether or not the recycling center in Simlångsdalen in Halmstad municipality should remain.

Hem, Halmstad energy and environment, thinks that the recycling center is too expensive to keep going and tells Hallandsposten that a visit costs around SEK 1,900.

"It is sad, and we are disappointed at Hem, we do not think that you have to be profitable in every place, this is an effort for the environment and for society," says Michael Persson, member of Simlångsdalen's community association to SVT Halland.

Hope the politicians

Already in 2012, Hem decided to close the recycling center, but it was stopped by the politicians and now the community association in Simlångsdalen hopes for a reprise.

In a letter to the local council in Halmstad, the community association proposes to reduce the number of visits per household to reduce the operating costs at the recycling center.

- We hope that politicians think it is important to have service at the localities in Halmstad, says Michael Persson.
