On the occasion of the Easter weekend, the authorities fear indeed a relaxation in the face of the coronavirus, in particular in the regions of academies B and C, concerned by the school holidays. 160,000 police and gendarmes will therefore be mobilized to enforce the rules of confinement.

"Our checkpoints are first on the departure axes, the exit points of cities, stations and airports, but also on the arrival points, vacation resorts", specifies at the microphone of Europe 1 Michel Lavaud, spokesperson for the National Police, who recalls that tourist areas are particularly affected by the influx of holidaymakers. "Last weekend, we carried out a lot of checks on the Arcachon area," he illustrates.

More than 70,000 vehicles checked last weekend

During this same weekend, "we checked nearly 70,000 vehicles on the roads of France", details Michel Lavaud, as well as "almost 5,000 people in stations and airports". Finally, "the National Police had verbalized about 4,000 people".
