The French volleyball championships - Women's A League, Men's A League, Men's B League - have been definitively stopped, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the National League (LNV) announced Friday after a meeting of its steering committee.

"Given a deconfinement which promises to be uncertain and which will in any case be long and certainly not homogeneous throughout the territory, the re-athleticization time, the uncertainties concerning the reopening of halls, we have decided to put an end to our championships, "said LNV president Alain Griguer.

The possibility of a white season has been ruled out, and the LNV has acted the principle of an ascent and a descent by division, in the classification stopped on March 12, the day before the suspension of competitions. However, the titles are not awarded this season.

Subject to validation by the DNACG, the financial gendarme, Nice is thus relegated to League B for men and Cambrai accesses to League A for men.

In Italy, the Volleyball Federation announced Thursday the end of all championships, including the prestigious men's championship where many French internationals play, including Jénia Grebennikov (Trentino), Jean Patry (Latina), Stephen Boyer (Verona).
