Coronavirus: daily death toll in Spain is lowest since March 24

Spain recorded, Friday, April 10, 605 deaths from the Covid-19 in 24 hours, the lowest figure recorded in almost three weeks.

The daily toll fell for the second day in a row in the country after two consecutive days of rebound. In Spain, one of the most bereaved countries in the world by the pandemic, 15,843 people have died from the disease.

The number of new confirmed cases in 24 hours (more than 4,500) has slowed down while the number of tests performed has increased.

In total, the confirmed cases in the country amount to 157,022. The Madrid region remains the most affected in the country. As for the number of people healed, it reached 55,668.

Warned of the risk of loosening

Even if the peak of the epidemic has already been reached, according to health authorities, the government has warned the Spanish against the risk of a relaxation. The strictest confinement to which the country has been subjected since March 14 has been extended until April 25 .

The head of government Pedro Sanchez has already warned that it would still be, even if a certain easing would be gradually envisaged. " Within 15 days, I am convinced that I will have to extend the state of alert again ", which enabled this confinement " because we will not have ended the pandemic ", he declared before MPs. " The fire caused by the pandemic is starting to be under control " but " our priority now is not to turn back, [...] not to lower our guard, " he insisted.

However, the government has already suggested that containment will be gradually relaxed. Children could in particular be allowed to go out with their parents near their home.

With more than 18,000 deaths, Italy is still the country with the most victims in the world. The United States now occupies second place in this sinister classification with 16,478 dead, followed by Spain and France (more than 12,000).
