Three students at Al-Shifa Bint Abdullah Secondary School devised a clever method that helps blind people read the book on electronic devices, using a device where the blind's finger is placed, and includes a Braille cell.

The students, Nora Ahmed Al-Zaabi, who is a person of determination (visual impairment), and Juwayrieh Haitham, and Maria Al-Balushi, told «Emirates Today» that «people of determination who are blind cannot read electronic texts on smartphones and others correctly, so we tried to provide this Innovation to keep them up to date with the technological developments in the world. ”

The students named the project "Nora Braille," after one of the students who completed the project, and she is a person of determination (visual impairment), in addition to Braille, the owner of the most famous way in the world to help the blind read.

They pointed out that the volume of the book written in Braille is twice the real size, and then they worked through the project to replace this huge size with a small device that the blind can carry in his pocket.

And he explained that the device installed on the one-cell finger, communicates with the smartphone of the blind through a smart application, and then any message that reaches the phone is transmitted directly to the finger, so the person can read it.

The team won first place in the "Emirates for the Young World" competition, at the National Science, Technology and Innovation Festival organized by the Ministry of Education, in early February, in the "Festival Arena - Dubai".

The students added that «the device is linked to the mobile phone through a smart application (PRA), and it is currently used for reading, and in the future we will work to develop it so that it can help the blind in reading and writing as well».

The students indicated that it took them about three months to complete the project, with the support of their teacher, Aisha Al-Zarouni.

The device was created by 3 female students at the secondary level
