April 10, 2020 "The curve of the infection reports a situation in decline. And 'a positive sign but should not lead us to lower our guard." This was stated at the press conference by Silvio Brusaferro, president of the Higher Institute of Health.

"The trend demonstrates how the measures taken have been effective in slowing the epidemic in various contexts. The positive trend is confirmed in Lombardy," he added.

Even in the southern regions the numbers "albeit limited, are falling".

" The average age of deaths is 80 years , 60% had more than three diseases. Men are affected mainly, women are 32%. The data come from the analysis of 1500 medical records".

In RSAs "in some areas mortality increased during the peak weeks of the infection. But mortality is linked in some way also to the flu peaks between January and February, and this also has its importance".

The Lombardy Region confirms the "positive trend" of epidemic data, but the figure on deaths in the RSA for the elderly emerges: "there are 1822 deaths in the RSA of the Region".
