The mass shooting in Zmievskaya beam was organized by the Nazis, presumably in August 1942, the Investigative Committee of Russia said.

“It was established that the translator of the SS-10“ a ”Sonderkommando Helmut Oberlender was involved in the commission of this crime. Now he lives illegally in Canada, ”said a video published by the agency.

In February, the Investigative Committee asked Canada to provide criminal case materials against Helmut Oberlander, who is suspected of involvement in the massacre of orphans in Yeysk in 1942.

The unit in which Oberlander served served in the Kuban in 1942-1943.

A number of participants were detained and convicted in the 1940s and 1960s, however, Oberlander managed to escape from the preliminary investigation authorities immediately after the surrender of Germany and to avoid punishment.

He received Canadian citizenship, which he was deprived of in December 2019 for trying to hide his service in the Sonderkommando.
