The number of new deaths (148) due to the coronavirus in the Netherlands was smaller on Thursday than a week earlier, when 166 deaths were reported. The number of hospital admissions is also considerably less, according to the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) in the daily COVID-19 update.
In fact, 237 new hospital admissions have now been reported, while 625 new admitted patients were registered last Thursday.
The new figures from RIVM do not concern the actual number of hospital admissions and deaths. It only concerns the reports that have been received by the institute, and there is a delay in this. Nevertheless, the first effects of the measures seem to become visible, according to the RIVM.
The number of confirmed infections has increased again. More people have been tested since this week, making it seem like the disease is spreading faster than before. RIVM emphasizes that this is not the case.
