Is it okay to meet older relatives outdoors at Easter? Can the children play with others on the Easter holiday? Do you have better protection against covid-19 if you are vaccinated against the "usual" flu?

These were some of the questions that Bengt Wittesjö answered in our chat. Please read all the questions and answers below.

That was the last question for today. We thank Bengt Wittesjö for taking the time to chat. We would also like to thank you for all the questions that have come in - not all of them could be answered.

Hey! Wondering how to think about the children during the Easter holidays. They are already playing with friends in the class or other classes from the same school. Is it ok that they also play with friends they know from other schools? Sleeping over with each other.? Obviously when they and the families are healthy and do not spend time with risk persons. Grateful for answers!

Anna Nilsson

Bengt Wittesjö, infection control physician: OK to play with other friends but I think it is inappropriate with overnight stay.

If you are vaccinated against the "usual" flu, can you be less susceptible to Covid-19?

Micke

Bengt Wittesjö, infection control physician: No, unfortunately not.

From what you know now, when do you think Blekinge will reach its peak when it comes to the number of infected (and maybe dying) of the corona virus?

Frank

Bengt Wittesjö, infection prevention physician: If we follow the pattern from Stockholm, the peak may occur at the end of May, but it is very difficult to predict.

How big do you think the darkness is considering how few are tested and the mild symptoms that are being talked about?

Bjorn Ove

Bengt Wittesjö, infection control physician: Impossible to know how big the darkness is. Just as you say, there are too few tested yet.

I have the opinion that Blekinge is affected to a milder degree than many other places in Sweden when it comes to covid19. How is it that?

Johan L

Bengt Wittesjö, infection control physician: One reason I think is that the metropolitan regions were hit early and hard due to congestion in public transport.

Hey! What applies to other non-Corona-related cases at health centers? For example, sampling (not for Corona). Can you still do that? Do you have to book time for such small things or should you avoid the health centers as much as possible if it is not urgent?

Hjalmar

Bengt Wittesjö, infection control physician: I think you have to book time for everything that is going to happen at health centers nowadays.

Acute infection problems are addressed in the "tents" at the day care center in Karlshamn and the health center in Lyckeby.

We have also been asked about this with a new vaccine. IN
A national vaccination campaign was carried out in connection with the swine flu. After this, the number of cases of narcolepsy increased as a suspected side effect among vaccinated children and adolescents in Sweden.

How should one feel safe about vaccinating if there is a vaccine against the coronavirus? Who decides on such a mass vaccination?

SVT · Helena Sjögren

Bengt Wittesjö, infectious surgeon: Decision on mass vaccination is made by the government on the recommendation of the Public Health Authority, but no one can be forced into vaccination.

I trust that any new vaccine offered will be sufficiently safety-tested, so that I could also recommend it and
get vaccinated yourself.

Hey!
What is it about the birth now? Can the support person be present during the whole delivery and then will it go from there when the birth nurse goes to BB?

Elin

Bengt Wittesjö, infection control physician: In general, a companion practitioner applies as decided by the regional director.

Jenny has emailed and wondered:

- We do not let anyone in the house except the family members and do not go in with others. Is it overly cautious? (I'm over 40, diabetes type 1, children with cold asthma.)

- If I keep the recommended distance, ie 1-2 meters, do I need to worry about spending time with people outdoors?

- Should I be as restrictive with children as adults when it comes to socializing or can the children bring home friends?

- Is it better or just as bad to shop in a small (smaller area) store with fewer visitors than a large (larger area and space) but with more visitors?

- If hand hygiene is taken care of, is there any danger of eating together outdoors with someone and using their crockery?

SVT · Helena Sjögren

Bengt Wittesjö, infection control physician:

1. You have to decide for yourself. I think it is a bit exaggerated when there are no people belonging to the risk group in the house. Well-regulated diabetes and asthma are not a special risk group.

2. No.

3. The children can bring home friends but not too many at a time.

4. The important thing is the distance to other people (1-2 m).

5. No.
