In connection with the corona pandemic, the police have come out and warned of fraud where people are taking advantage of the situation to be able to fool the elderly for money. Among other things, fraudsters have claimed to come from the Public Health Authority and work with infection tracking and in this way have the elderly give out their bank ID or card codes. In other cases, the fraudsters have offered to shop for older people and said they need their banking information to do so.

- We have seen this type of fraud for a long time and will continue to do so for several decades. The fraudsters are adapting their strategy to the prevailing conditions and right now they can exploit the situation with the corona virus, says Mikael Hedström, press spokesperson for the Mittel police region.
