The liaison office for the Emirates government stated that the decision of the “exceptional vacation”, which was adopted by the Council of Ministers yesterday, aims to ensure that children continue to be provided with the necessary care and health protection.

In the answers to the questions related to the decision, the office indicated that the applicant for the leave is required to be an employee of a federal ministry or entity, and to be married and have children who need care.

He added that the conditions that must be met by the husband or wife are placing them in the home or health quarantine by a decision of the Ministry of Health and Community Protection or the local health authority, and that it be among doctors, nurses or paramedics whose tasks require direct contact with those infected with the Corona virus, or from Workers in quarantine centers.

The office stressed that the leave is not counted from the balance of periodic or sick leave for the employee, pointing out that the maximum duration varies according to the case, in the case of quarantine expires immediately after the end of the quarantine period, and in the event that either of the spouses worked in a health job or a quarantine center, the leave It ends with the end of his duties, or the epidemic.

He stated that a certificate must be presented from the competent authority, in case the husband (or wife) was placed in quarantine, or a certificate proving the nature of his work should be presented.

The decision to grant paid leave for exceptional cases by federal employees comes as a precautionary measure taken by the government to prevent the emerging corona virus (Covid-19).

The office stated that the leave can be extended in the event of an extension of the quarantine period for additional tests, until the medical results appear. The leave also continues for medical occupants specified in the decision or employees of quarantine centers, if the current situation continues as it is.

He explained that, in the event of jobs of greatest importance, the government agency can decide that the employee continues to work remotely instead of the exceptional leave.

He pointed out that a married employee who does not have children cannot obtain exceptional leave, because the purpose of the leave is to take care of the children.

The special leave decision for federal government employees stipulated that the children of the employee applying for the leave be no more than 16 years old, but in the case of children of determination, there is no specific age for them.
