Next week, charges will be brought against the 18-year-old who has been detained since February. He was suspected of serious murder.

It was on February 2 shortly before 6 pm that the emergency services were alerted about a fire at Ica Maxi in Växjö. It turned out that it had started in the leisure department and the day after the store had to keep closed for remediation.

Three young people suspected

Three young people became suspicious early on. But now the two girls who are 16 and 17 years old have been written off from the investigation.

- They were on the scene but it is not possible to say that they had a part in the action that led to it starting to burn, says prosecutor Jonny Philipsson.

A lit candle

A light came on inside the store.

- There was a light involved, but the light itself was not enough to start the fire, says Jonny Philipsson.

Exactly what it was that caused the fire and what the 18-year-old is suspected of doing he does not want to go out with now, the technical details he waits for the prosecution to become public

The whole incident was captured by one of the store's surveillance cameras.
