It has in all cases involved elderly and multi-ill persons. One of the deceased was cared for in the hospital and was confirmed infected, the other two were cared for in their accommodation.
Better protection for the elderlyGällivare municipality is now stepping in with measures to prevent the spread of infection at care homes.
"It is a worrying development that immediately gives rise to further strengthening measures to prevent further spread of infection and to protect our elderly and sick as much as we can," says Social Manager Annette Wiksten Åhl.
In a press release on Wednesday evening, Gällivare Municipality tells about its scrapped routines. Among other things, staff working with suspected infected persons should be isolated from other users and an increased presence of medical personnel will be introduced to support and guide the care staff in the work.
