During the Public Health Authority's daily press conference, Tegnell once again asked the Swedish people to think about whether it is necessary to travel within their own region during Easter.

But for the summer, it looks promising for domestic travel.

-There is quite a lot of evidence that in the summer we will have such peace that you can travel in Sweden. But the rest of the world will probably be a rather messy place. However, it is difficult to know exactly how it will be in every region of Sweden.

Travel habits can be changed

With, among other things, the development of low-cost flights, the Swedes have become accustomed to traveling abroad often - especially during the summer.

But the corona pandemic could possibly change the way we travel, believes Maria Ros Jernberg, deputy secretary general of the Swedish Tourism Association.

- There are both risks and opportunities with this. During the summer we will not be traveling outside Sweden and this will create opportunities for an organization that I represent that promotes domestic tourism, ”she says.

Ros Jernberg believes that maybe we will start vacationing more as we did before, in the country and for shorter periods.

- Now it becomes back to basics. We may be thinking a lot about how we travel. I think we might be away for a short time and stay outdoors. It will be a different kind of experience.

Many want to be out

A trend Maria Ros Jernberg thinks is an increased interest in hiking.

- Then you can be in their immediate area. We notice that many people think that you should not go far. Several have also realized the importance of supporting local actors. Many want to spread their support and share it with different tourism industries.

Ros Jernberg believes that although the corona crisis is catastrophic in many ways, there are lessons to be learned from this time.

- Right now, corona is our only focus, but before that it was the climate crisis we were talking about. And if we can learn something, it is perhaps a way to travel that is better for our climate.
