It is noted that the case was opened on the fact of unlawful actions of the ex-president in the appointment of judges of the Supreme Court

“On the basis of the appeal of the Supreme Court’s employees, the Prosecutor General entered the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations (ERDR) on possible unlawful actions of the President of Ukraine, whose powers were terminated, and other persons when issuing decrees of the President of Ukraine dated November 10, 2017 No. 357/2017 and 7 May 1959, No. 195/2019, “On the appointment of judges of the Supreme Court,” the statement said.

It is noted that Poroshenko’s actions are qualified as abuse of power or official position (part 2 of article 364), interference with the activities of the judiciary (part 2 of article 376), failure to comply with a court decision (part 4 of article 382), as well as actions aimed at forcibly changing or overthrowing the constitutional order or seizing state power (parts 1, 2 of article 109).

It is noted that the conduct of pre-trial investigation in five criminal proceedings on the above facts was entrusted to investigators of the central apparatus of the State Bureau of Investigation (GBR).

Earlier, lawyer Ilya Novikov, representing Poroshenko’s interests, said that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine opened criminal proceedings on the fact of “political persecution” of the former president of Ukraine.
