A Japanese singer who had a worldwide success in 2016 with his absurd tube "Pen Pineapple Apple Pen" (PPAP) brought it up to date with a clearer message: to wash your hands in front of the coronavirus.

Always sporting his ultra-fine mustache, a golden outfit and his leopard scarf, the artist responding to the stage name of "Pikotaro" has already obtained more than 3.1 million views on Youtube with his new video posted last Saturday.

"We will win," he adds at the end of his short video, much appreciated on Twitter by Japanese parents and children.

The 2016 version of PPAP had been seen more than 67 million times in just a few months and had notably been dubbed by pop star Justin Bieber.

The whimsical Pikotaro was chosen the following year to liven up a dinner for Donald Trump during an official visit to Japan by the American president, whose grandchildren also adored PPAP at the time.
