China News Agency, Toronto, April 7 Question: Overseas to watch the "epidemic": Hubei fellow in Canada: Wuhan "unblocked" will never be forgotten

China News Service reporter Yu Ruidong

"This is the most exciting piece of good news when the world is fighting the new crown epidemic," when Wuhan was "unblocked", Hubei fellows living in Canada told reporters from China News Service, "We are proud of Wuhan."

On April 8, Wuhan officially lifted the control measures for the passage from Han to Hubei.

"It's so exciting," Wu Yihong, the president of the Wuhan Hubei Association of Hubei, Vancouver, shared the good news of Wuhan's "unblocking" in dozens of WeChat groups. "It's been hard for me to seal it for so long, and I can't talk about it at all ..." Looking back at the "Fengcheng" in Wuhan for 76 days, she couldn't help choking.

Wu Yihong said that Wuhan, a big city with a population of 10 million, can basically be adjusted in place in more than two months, allowing the world to see the shock of the Chinese government, medical staff and the people of Wuhan fighting the epidemic. This process makes compatriots "unforgettable forever."

Teng Zhongqin, president of the Alumni Association of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law in Canada and senior Chinese media recalled that when he heard the unexpected news of his hometown "closing the city" on January 23, he was quite shocked.

Teng Zhongqin said that in the past 76 days, any news related to the epidemic in Wuhan has affected his heart. The spirit of taking care of the overall situation and the courage to sacrifice shown by relatives in Wuhan is respectable and proud. In the early days of the "Fengcheng" in Wuhan, the "Wuhan Ling" organized and directed a music video recorded in Toronto by local Chinese media people and the mayor of Markham, Canada, a sister city of Wuhan, to cheer for Wuhan. After seeing the video, many relatives and friends in their hometown were in tears.

Guo Jun, president of the Hubei Association of Quebec, said that Wuhan ’s “unblocking” has given overseas Chinese confidence in overcoming the epidemic and brought inspiring morale to the countries fighting the epidemic; With the self-discipline and full cooperation of the whole people, the new coronavirus can be overcome.

When the Hubei epidemic broke out, Guo Jun and the fellow Hubei fellows took the lead in organizing donations of love to local overseas Chinese in Quebec. The villagers donated 3 tons of various medical supplies to the Hubei hometown hospital.

Today, these Hubei folks living in Quebec are responding to the call of the overseas Chinese community and are actively purchasing and donating medical protective materials for local hospitals, welfare institutions and charitable organizations, and are involved in the "second half" battle against the epidemic.

Teng Zhongqin said that Wuhan's "closing the city" is unprecedented in history. What impressed him most was the Wuhan Vulcan Mountain and Thunder Mountain Hospitals that were completed in just over ten days. The hospital has been running for two months and has admitted more than 5,000 patients. "How many resources and people's contributions does this condense across the country?" He said. "This is not only a miracle of China, but also a miracle of the world. Later facts also proved the great contributions made by these two hospitals in the fight against epidemic."

He believes that Canada is now in an epidemic outbreak period, and many experiences in the anti-epidemic in Wuhan, Hubei and even China are worthy of reference for all levels of government in Canada. For example, how to prevent and control imported cases through the cabin hospital Such means as grading and centralized resources to diagnose and treat patients.

Teng Zhongqin said that Hubei and Wuhan have gained many experiences and lessons in the fight against epidemic disease. Any decision about public health should be based on science, and keep information open and transparent; corresponding public health places with hidden health risks should be taken corresponding rectification measures, and even legislation should be rectified to prevent accidents before they happen.

Both Wu Yihong and Teng Zhongqin believe that "unblocking" does not mean that you can be blindly optimistic. You still need to be vigilant and take necessary precautions to prevent the epidemic from returning.

Wu Yihong said that relatives in their hometown may have to treat their next life in new ways and habits, "I hope everyone can be well together and they can always be safe and auspicious as before." (End)
