The authorities in the US state of New York revealed large numbers of people infected with the new corona virus among prisoners in the state.
This came after the death of a US prisoner in New York, Coronavirus, yesterday, Michael Tyson, 53, who was being held pending a hearing on a non-criminal offense.
After Tyson's death, an epidemiological monitoring team moved to the place of the deceased's prison, resulting in the discovery of 286 inmates and 331 New York prison staff.
New York State Governor Andrew Como announced that his states recorded, yesterday, the highest daily toll in terms of the number of deaths from coronavirus infection.
The authorities recorded 731 new deaths, bringing the total number to 5,489, while the number of injured rose to 138,836.
