The situation with the incidence of coronavirus infection COVID-19 in Russia may reach a plateau within two weeks. Such an opinion on the channel "Russia 24" was expressed by the head of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FMBA) Veronika Skvortsova. According to her, this can be achieved if all citizens of the Russian Federation continue to behave rationally, and at the same time testing volumes will increase.

“According to the best forecasting groups, consisting of mathematicians, biologists ... somewhere around 10-14 days before reaching a plateau with this infection. After that, for some time we will hold onto the plateau and go in the opposite direction, ”said Skvortsova.

At the same time, she emphasized that Russia will be on the plateau until the first decade - mid-June. According to the head of the FMBA, while the epidemiological process in Russia is developing according to one of the most favorable scenarios, but the situation may change if the isolation regime is not respected.

“Usually, in the third week, every person has a psychological burnout if they get into some kind of monotonous situation. It’s necessary to prevent the psychological nuances that everyone can feel from leading to a violation of the regime and premature exit onto the street, ”Skvortsova added.

According to her, Russia relied on the experience of other countries, including the mistakes made. Thus, the measures adopted on a large-scale and unprecedented for the country led to the fact that the exchange of “infectious agents” among the population was limited.

As follows from the April poll of the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM), 76% of Russians during the period of the coronavirus epidemic limited contact with others and try not to leave home. 58% of respondents monitor hygiene and use antiseptics, and 30% wear a mask or respirator.

According to the latest data, 7497 confirmed cases of COVID-19 disease were registered in Russia, 494 of them recovered, 58 - died of complications.

Earlier, President Vladimir Putin during the meeting called the distribution of COVID-19 a difficult stage in the life of Russia, but, according to him, with competent actions, the country will overcome the situation with minimal losses. The Russian leader also signed a decree on additional measures of social support for families with children.

Development FMBA

Veronika Skvortsova also spoke about Russian developments in the field of combating the spread of coronavirus infection. In particular, at the end of this week, chips will be demonstrated that can detect COVID-19 in 15-20 minutes. Several types of so-called bedside tests will also appear that will determine the presence of antibodies to coronavirus in the body. This will determine the population immunity of the population and estimate how many Russians have had the infection, including a mild illness.

In addition, she drew attention to the developed FMBA test systems for the determination of new coronavirus infection. “Tests are becoming more and more accurate, and the FMBA has registered two test systems. Their sensitivity is ten in the second degree. This is the highest sensitivity known in the world, ”she added.

At the same time, the vaccine developed by the Russian agency with the most favorable development of events should be expected by the end of the year.

In turn, the WHO representative in Russia Melita Vujnovic said that four types of vaccines will be tested in a clinical study called Solidarity, after which it will be possible to determine the best one. In total, according to her, there are 20 variants of vaccines, but there is no understanding when a full-fledged medicine will be ready.

Earlier, the FMBA announced the start of clinical trials of the drugs Mefloquine, Hydroxychloroquine and Kolidavir for the treatment of patients with coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Rosstandart announced the development of a preliminary national standard for gauze masks. According to the forecast of the department, it is planned to be approved in June 2020. The standard is experimental and will be valid for up to three years, reports TASS. After that, a decision will be made on the possible extension of the standard as a national one, its cancellation or revision.

“Other face masks relate to sanitary-hygienic products, which have no unified requirements,” explained Rosstandart.
