Isle of Pines, New Caledonia. - Raw screenshot.

When he discovered it at the end of the 18th century, James Cook did not need to use his imagination a lot to name it. This little piece of paradise located southeast of the main island of New Caledonia, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, is "The Isle of Pines", soberly named because it is full of columnar pines.

Snorkeling around the coral reefs in the bays of Kuto or Kanumera, hiking on Mount N'ga, stroll along the shores, or even visit the ruins of an old penal colony ... A change of scenery is guaranteed. And for those who would like to take a little trip at sea, why not take a outrigger canoe to reach the bay of Saint-Joseph or that of Upi. A place sometimes nicknamed "Caledonian Ha Long Bay", in reference to the coral rocks which, on the spot, seem to float on turquoise water.
