Over the past few years, Region Örebro County has worked a lot to get more people to install solar cells in their homes. Due to their persistent work, Örebro increased its solar cell production by 89 per cent last year.

Today, almost half a percent of Örebro is powered by solar cells, and most of that production comes from private homes that want to become more self-sufficient. Örebro County still produces less solar per capita compared to the rest of the country.

Askersund Municipality is the municipality in Örebro county that has the most installed solar power in relation to the number of inhabitants, with 126 watts per inhabitant. In Sweden, the installed power per inhabitant is 68 watts.

- In Sweden, the installed photovoltaic effect per inhabitant is still greater than in Örebro county, so we should still be a little humble with how much solar energy is here. Then 89 percent is a huge increase, which is very gratifying, says Ylva Gullberg, development manager of solar power at Region Örebro county.

However, Örebro counties must almost double their solar production if they are to achieve the region's target of a solar production of 150 gigawatth hours by 2030.
